BaseHalf

Turn your project folder into a map your agents can read

A canvas-first desktop workspace for thinking with files and agents. Free and open source.

BaseHalf with a project folder open: its files at the left, the folder as a canvas of connected notes, a design, code, a PDF and a book, with the release plan selected. At the right, Claude Code is asked “what did people ask for that this leaves out?” and answers that it took “this” to mean the selected card, and that the plan leaves out one request from the interviews.

“This” means what you selected

Select a card or a passage and ask. BaseHalf records the selection where Claude Code, Codex and other agents look, so “who asked for this?” is enough.

Working with agents
A recording of BaseHalf. A sentence in a decision note on the canvas is selected, “who asked for this?” is typed to Claude Code in the Agent Area, and the answer says nobody asked for it directly, quotes the selected sentence and names the notes it came from.

Connections live in the files

Draw a line from one card to another, and the note gets one more line of plain text in its upstream list, where git and every agent can read it.

How connections work
A recording of BaseHalf. A line is drawn from the interviews card to the release plan card, then git diff in a terminal beside the canvas shows interviews.md added to the upstream list of release-plan.md.

Generate from what’s on the canvas

Connect frames, clips and notes to an image, video or sound draft, choose a model, and generate with your own provider keys. What comes back is an ordinary file in the folder.
